Privacy Policy
The short version: Dock Switcher collects no personal data. No accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
Omevi, LLC (“Omevi”, “we”, “us”) makes Dock Switcher, a Mac app for creating and switching between custom Docks. Dock Switcher does not collect, transmit to us, sell or share any personal data. Your Docks are stored on your Mac and, if you turn on sync, in your own private iCloud database, which we cannot access. This matches Dock Switcher’s App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected.
This policy explains how the Dock Switcher app for macOS (“Dock Switcher” or “the app”) and the website at dockswitcher.com (“the website”) handle information. If you have questions, contact us at support@dockswitcher.com.
1. Information we collect
Dock Switcher does not collect any personal data. The app has no user accounts, no sign-up and no login. It contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting services operated by us, no tracking, and no third-party software development kits (SDKs). Dock Switcher does not send information about you or your use of the app to Omevi or to anyone else.
If you choose to share crash reports or diagnostics with app developers through macOS, Apple may provide us with anonymized crash information under Apple’s own privacy policy. This is controlled by you in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, and it does not identify you to us.
2. What Dock Switcher stores on your Mac
To do its job, Dock Switcher stores the Docks you create. This information stays on your Mac, in the app’s sandboxed container at ~/Library/Containers/com.dockswitcher. It includes:
- Dock names, colors and symbols you choose.
- Item paths, the locations of the apps, folders and files you add, and the web links you add.
- Bundle identifiers of the apps in your Docks (for example,
com.apple.Safari), so Dock Switcher can find each app. - Settings for each Dock (such as icon size, position and auto-hide), your keyboard shortcuts, automations and app preferences.
- A backup of your original Dock, made before your first switch so you can restore it.
We never receive this information.
3. How Dock Switcher reads and writes your Dock
Dock Switcher changes the macOS Dock the same way System Settings does. It reads and writes the Dock’s own preferences on your Mac and then restarts the Dock so the changes take effect. To do this, macOS asks you to grant Dock Switcher an Automation permission to control the Dock. All of this happens on your device only. Dock Switcher does not send your Dock’s contents anywhere.
4. iCloud sync
If you turn on iCloud sync, Dock Switcher stores your Docks in your private CloudKit database in your iCloud account (container iCloud.com.dockswitcher), so they are available on your other Macs. This data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Omevi cannot access, read or retrieve the contents of your private iCloud database. Sync uses the iCloud account you are already signed in to. Dock Switcher does not ask for your Apple Account credentials.
Sync is optional. You can turn it off at any time in Dock Switcher’s Settings.
5. Files you export
When you export a Dock as a .dockswitcher file, the file contains that Dock’s name, items, item paths, bundle identifiers and settings. You decide where to save it and whom to share it with. We do not receive these files.
6. The website
The dockswitcher.com website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or third-party scripts. It does not use local storage to track you.
- Hosting logs. Like any website, our hosting provider automatically processes standard server log data, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request, to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. We do not use this data to identify or profile visitors, and it is retained only as long as the hosting provider’s standard log retention period.
- Fonts. The website loads the Plus Jakarta Sans and JetBrains Mono typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests them, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information, as described in Google’s Privacy Policy. Google Fonts does not set cookies.
- Links. Links to the Mac App Store and other sites take you to services governed by their own privacy policies.
7. Support emails
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use this only to reply to you and help with your request. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share your email. We keep support correspondence only as long as needed to help you and for our ordinary business records, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
8. Purchases
Dock Switcher is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple processes your payment and handles your purchase, refunds and Family Sharing. We do not receive your payment details or your Apple Account information. Apple provides us with aggregated, non-identifying sales reports.
9. Sharing and selling of data
We do not sell, rent, trade or share personal information, because we do not collect it. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
10. Children’s privacy
Dock Switcher is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children under 13, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA/CPRA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port personal data about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the right to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing, without discrimination.
Because Dock Switcher collects no personal data, we hold none about you from the app. Your Dock data is under your control on your Mac and in your iCloud account (see section 12). If you have emailed us, you can ask us to access or delete that correspondence by writing to support@dockswitcher.com. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. For the limited processing of support emails, our legal basis under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in responding to you. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
12. Data retention and deletion
Your Docks remain on your Mac and, if sync is on, in your iCloud account until you delete them. You can delete your data at any time:
- In the app: delete individual Docks in Dock Switcher.
- On your Mac: quit Dock Switcher and move the folder
~/Library/Containers/com.dockswitcherto the Trash. Deleting the app from your Applications folder removes the app itself. - In iCloud: go to System Settings › Apple ID › iCloud › Manage, select Dock Switcher and delete its data.
13. Security
Dock Switcher runs in the macOS App Sandbox, and your iCloud data is protected by Apple’s iCloud security. Because we don’t collect your data, there is no Omevi database of user information to be breached.
14. International users
Omevi is based in the United States. Because Dock Switcher does not transfer personal data to us, using the app does not involve sending your data to the United States or anywhere else. If you email us, your message will be processed in the United States.
15. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above. If a change materially affects how Dock Switcher handles data, we will make it clear on this page and in the app’s release notes before it takes effect. We will not begin collecting personal data without updating this policy and the App Store privacy label first.
