1.0Dock Switcher is here
The first release of Dock Switcher, a dock for every kind of work. It includes:
- Unlimited custom Docks, each with its own name, color and symbol.
- Everything the native Dock holds: apps, folders and stacks (stack or folder; fan, grid, list or automatic; sorted by name, date added, modified, created or kind), files, web links and regular or small spacers.
- Per-Dock settings: icon size, magnification and its maximum size, position (left, bottom, right), automatically hide and show, auto-hide delay, animation speed, minimize effect (genie or scale), minimize windows into app icon, indicators for open apps, suggested and recent apps, animate opening apps, show only open apps, and dim icons of hidden apps.
- Switch from anywhere: the menu bar, the main window, global keyboard shortcuts for each Dock, the Shortcuts app with a new Switch Dock action (works with Siri), and the
dockswitcher://switch?dock=Nameanddockswitcher://restoreURLs. - Open a Dock’s apps when you switch, as an option on each Dock.
- Automations that switch Docks on a schedule or when an external display is connected or disconnected.
- iCloud sync across your Macs, with no new account. Apps that aren’t installed on a Mac are skipped.
- A safety net: your original Dock is backed up before the first switch, with one-click Restore Original Dock. Capture your current Dock as a new Dock in Dock Switcher.
- Seven starter templates: App Development, Graphic Design, Video Editing, Writing, Music Production, Communication and Focus.
- Import and export Docks as
.dockswitcherfiles. - A switch HUD that briefly shows which Dock you switched to.
- Native SwiftUI, light and dark mode, and a menu bar app that can hide from the Dock.
- Private by design: no accounts, no analytics, no tracking.
Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Runs on Apple silicon and Intel.
